Time to be Thankful

Well, things have been so busy around Phar Lepht that I haven't had time to blog, email my family or friends or even 'think' about writing something creative. I still haven't found much time for any of those things but I am going to make some to at least write here in my journal.

The Good News: Noah got a job! He had been applying all over Austin and was beginning to get discouraged at his prospects but low and behold, he got a job with the state agricultural department as a computer tech. Now both he a my DIL Jenni are working for the state and only a block from each other. He will be taking a large pay cut from what he earned but doesn't have to worry about the state filing for bankruptcy and the benefits are good!

Cec and I did a show this last weekend here in Phar Lepht. Las Artistas is one of the premier shows in this area and I have been trying to get into this juried show for several years. It's not that I have been rejected, I couldn't even get an application. A very popular show for sure and other artists and craftfolk have told us that customers come to buy, not just look. They liked our presentation and several of the board members even bought some stuff from us. Cec sold several of his creations. He is really getting into the jewelry making and was encouraged by the sales and comments he got from the public. Funny though, he makes the most delicate and dainty items whereas I tend to make the more bold and ethnic pieces. He is a great salesman too, the ladies love him as he is very charming and charismatic.

The bad news: Our water heater bit the dust and leaked all over the floor. Replacement was not on the agenda but that is one of the joys of home ownership. We went a few days without hot water which is no biggie but makes you appreciate the convenience of modern living. Water heaters have gotten very expensive too. Ugh.

Two more shows before Christmas so again, I will be busy in the studio since we did so well at the last show. I have lots of empty spaces to fill. The next show is in Austin where I will get to see Noah and Jen. Not much time for visiting as it is a ten hour drive on Friday, set up and show on Saturday, show on Sunday and ten hour drive back home on Monday. Nate will get to visit with his brother though and he is excited about that.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I have much to be thankful for and am grateful.
